Alice in wonderland

• Please see notes at end of listing…
and so the journey begins…

Alice ambled down the lovely long lane, heading towards the sea but rather than follow its curve to the left, she wandered just off the path to the right where she immediately spotted her sister, lying on the ground between the large twin trees overlooking the path below.

Alice hesitated, her sister wasn’t known for her charm, especially when she was reading one of her favourite books, which Alice soon noticed she was; Not one to be easily deterred Alice leant casually on the corner fence post, took a deep breath and called out.

“What are you doing here?!” her sister snapped back. Before Alice had a chance to answer; her sister quickly jumped to her feet, pushed past Alice and stomped off up the path that Alice herself has just walked down.

As Alice watched her march off, she noticed that her sisters hands were empty… “that’s odd” she thought, “where is the book she was just reading? and where are the marbles and other trinkets, Alice noted had been on the ground beside her?”

Picnic anyone?

Great place to bring the kids for an afternoon, plenty of space to play around, nearby confidence course, facilities and parking.

Cache should be an easy find but be aware of muggles, as more people discover this place it gets busier all the time

Historical Site

Please use the coordinates of where to park at the top of the hill. We would suggest turning left at the top and park down the road, or tuck yourself in next to the farmers market sign.

Make your way down back down the hill on the inside of the barrier, keep your eyes open and you will spot the cache on your way to the information post at the bottom.

Cache is in plain view with no poking around required!

Bring your camera along as stealth is required on this well used road

On the flats below, Granger’s Brick and Tite Works operated from 1896 until 1920. The bricks were used in the Karangahake railway tunnel, the Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind building and Kings College, as well as many Auckland homes.

Bring your own pencil and enjoy the views at this site.
